Philip Smith is Behavioral Scientist at the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF), at the Dept. of Medicine, University of Cape Town (UCT). He obtained his Masters at the UCT Dept. of Psychology (2010) and his PhD at the UCT Dept. of Medicine (2019). His work is primarily focused on pathways to generating and maintaining health and flourishing in underserved populations. Philip has worked in health research using behavioral science to develop interventions to promote healthy behaviour. Philip has researched structural and psychosocial factors that facilitate and hamper health-seeking behavior, and characteristics of contextually appropriate health services. Philip is a GloCal Global Health Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Carnegie fellow at UCT. Philip completed his Time To Think training with Clyde Smeda.
