Alex Coward is the Founder and Managing Director of The People Factor. She has been a consultant, facilitator and coach since the early 2000s. Based in Sydney, she works domestically and internationally with individuals, teams and organisations navigating complex change. Her client portfolio spans listed corporates, government, private firms and the not-for-profit sector.
Time to Think Experience
Alex is an accredited and licensed Thinking Environment facilitator. She is currently completing her Thinking Partnership (coaching) practicum.
Facilitation Experience
In addition to being a Thinking Environment facilitator, Alex holds tertiary and professional qualifications in facilitation. Throughout her 20+ years of facilitation, she has acquired an array of facilitation techniques, stories, skills and tools. Yet her facilitation practice is more than a process — she considers the needs of each individual member, the needs of the group as a collective, and the system within which the group resides.
This depth of practice is reflected in Alex’s Master’s thesis — Making Sense of Facilitation: Insights from Professional Facilitators of Transformation — which explores the visible and invisible aspects of facilitation. That curiosity about what lies beneath the surface of a group informs everything Alex does in practice — including how she works with clients from the outset. Alex takes a collaborative approach to facilitation assignments, partnering closely with her clients to understand what is important to them and co-creating facilitation spaces to reflect this.
Coaching Experience
Alex holds a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential with the International Coaching Federation. She is accredited to use a variety of coaching models and psychometric tools. A perpetual learner, Alex has applied to undertake a Doctorate in Coaching and Mentoring with Oxford Brookes (UK), commencing late 2026.
Consulting and Change Experience
Alex specialises in organisational development, personal change, culture, and team cohesion. She designs and facilitates strategy days, leadership team offsites, innovation workshops and large-scale change programmes. Prior to founding The People Factor, Alex held senior organisational development and HR leadership roles in Australian listed companies and the not-for-profit sector.
Qualifications
Alex holds an Executive Master of Science in Change Leadership, jointly awarded by HEC Paris and Oxford University. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling) from ACAP University College and a Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Development from Southern Cross University.
